About Us: Our History

Dr. Aiken held a second meeting in April 2002 where he shared the church’s name, mission, vision and purpose, thus, Heart of Worship Restoration Center was birthed. All who felt led by the Lord to walk with Dr. Aiken made a commitment to serve and assist in the building of Heart of Worship Restoration Center.
On Sunday, June 9, 2002 Heart of Worship Restoration Center held its first official worship service in the Prince Hall Elementary school located in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia. Discipleship training classes were held each Sunday for a total of thirteen weeks and were developed and taught by Dr. Aiken to provide a foundational understanding of the biblical doctrine that would govern the operation Heart of Worship. The discipleship classes focused on biblical principles such as: Baptism, Communion, Stewardship, Prayer, Praise and Worship and Spiritual Gifts.

On Sunday, September 8, 2002 the ministry was dedicated during its celebratory birthing service which was celebrated as a "Service of Triumph." Heart of Worship was blessed to purchase its building in 2005, which is located in the Olney section of Philadelphia. Upon the completion of the building renovations, which were done in stages over a period of four years, the church held its first service in the building on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2009.

Two thousand and ten was a memorable year for Heart of Worship, one which afforded the ministry to continue to impact the Olney community with the following programs, events  and supports: A monthly meal program for those in the community, Easter Outreach and Christmas food baskets, an annual health fair, vacation bible school, the summer lunch program for children, support for those grieving the loss of loved ones, and specialized support for those challenged with substance abuse and domestic violence.
Since the ministry’s inception in 2002, the lives of individuals, families and those in the community have been blessed through the service, inspiration and empowerment of Dr. Aiken and the church. They have provided sound biblical teaching on Sunday mornings and on Wednesdays through Family Enrichment Hour. Praise the Lord for all He has done, and for all He is going to do!

In March 2002, Bishop Dr. Kevin M. Aiken held an informational meeting with a few believers in faith at the Chestnut Hill Hotel located on Germantown Avenue. It was in a small banquet room where Dr.  Aiken presented the vision that The Lord had revealed to him. He shared that the Lord led him to organize a place of worship inspired by the foundational scripture: "true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth" (John 4:23 KJ

 Our Mission

Our mission is to transform individuals, families, and communities through service, inspiration, and empowerment.

Purpose

Our purpose is to restore the lives of God’s people and bring them back to a heart of worship!

Vision

God is the one who gives vision. And like the Prophets of old, God shows us the mysteries of the Kingdom. But it was Ezekiel that had a distinct vision of God that displays Him as a “Wheel in the middle of a Wheel.” Ezekiel shared that Vision, and now we see that same Vision. Like Ezekiel, God showed me a Vision of the Church; it is “The Church that I see,” and that church that I see, has now become “The Church That We See!”

The Church That We See…

(7) Seven Tier Vision

  1. We see a church whose function is not business as usual.

  2. We see a church whose focus is restoration.

  3. We see a church whose objective is spiritual maturity.

  4. We see a church full of unity with diversity.

  5. We see a church whose mission is to reach a multitude.

  6. We see a church involved in economic empowerment

  7. We see a church who’s looking for a God encounter of the closest kind and not afraid of the outcome!

Let’s Worship!
